What We Need:

Reporting to the Japan Director of Corporate Development, this role will be leading greenfield and M&A projects in Japan, including asset and corporate acquisitions. In addition to working closely with the Japan management team, the role will include frequent discussions with the Digital Edge regional leadership team, especially the CIO’s function.This role will be based in Japan.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and develop business pipeline for sourcing investment opportunities
  • Maintain relationships with key business partners (e.g. contractors, financial institutions, engineering companies)
  • Responsible for monitoring the M&A landscape and key announcements to gain insights on industry activities and overall market trends
  • Work on all aspects of M&A transactions to varying degrees; developing analysis and strategy, participating in deal negotiation, execution, and integration
  • Set optimization targets and recommendations to drive conversation with senior management; provide analysis to support decisions around key strategic initiatives that would lead to growth opportunities, market development, risk mitigation, and profitability improvement
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Operations and Finance teams to manage the Post-Merger-Integration (PMI) process, and support transition of a project to Business-as-Usual
  • Actively champion and increase awareness of their responsibility to occupational health & safety in the workplace, information security management, environmental management systems; and comply with all legal regulatory requirements of the organization
The Successful Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA) from a top tier university
  • Background in the international investment/finance industry; work experience in business operation companies preferred
  • Capable of bridging global and Japanese business culture, building good relationships and negotiating with M&A counterparties
  • Strong experience with projections/forecasts, due diligence and deal structure strategies
  • Knowledge or experience in the data center industry preferred
  • Relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, consulting or other analytical finance role preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in both English and Japanese
